Music activity and education offers many benefits - music connects the brain in ways no other subject can. It enables young people to develop skills such as listening, memory, perseverance, resilience and self-expression as well as providing benefits to physical health and wellbeing. Research shows that Young People who learn to play a musical instrument improve their life chances in all areas.

Music is often seen as the preserve of the rich or middle class. We want to break down those perceptions and ensure that all young people and families within Torbay can freely access musical activity. Torbay Music Hub provides young people within Torbay aged between 5-18 years with the opportunity to; learn to play an instrument, sing, participate in major events, experience live music and take part in choirs and ensembles. For many students, initial music experiences provided in schools cannot always be built upon.

The Torbay Music Foundation will work to raise funds to enable more young people to access further musical opportunities and progress in their music-making.
